      Emmolo is named after owner and founder, Cheryl Emmolo's grandfather, Salvatore Emmolo, who started a rootstock nursery in Rutherford in 1932. Her grandfather, Frank Emmolo, managed the nursery and farmed sauvignon blanc and merlot grapes on the property. The Emmolo label was initially designed to preserve the family name because there weren’t any sons in the family. That role now belongs to Cheryl's daughter, Jenny, who made sure her grandfather was one of the first to see the new Emmolo label. “Both my grandparents are so excited and proud and happy that I’m keeping the name,” she says. “When my grandpa started reading the label, he got all teared up.”
