Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation successfully completed its second Harvest Wine & Food Festival in WaterColor. The event boasted renowned chefs and vintners, high end wine dinners, and an expanded selection of wine and culinary treats. The event, however, was not without it’s challenges. Just 17 days before the festival opened, Hurricane Michael hit the Gulf Coast. While DCWAF was fortunate to weather the storm unscathed, our friends to the east in Panama City and beyond were not so lucky. The decision to continue as planned was difficult, but one that was made due to the increased need of our benefiting charities. A hurricane relief fund was incorporated into the festival, which ulitmately generated over $20,000 for the Sonder Project.
Designed to highlight harvest season at the beach, Harvest Wine & Food Festival was comprised of three eventful days that included intimate winemaker dinners, reserve tastings, and a Grand Tasting featuring over 250 luxury wines and large culinary stations highlighting the best in Gulf Coast fare.
HARVEST WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL REVENUE
Currently ranked #4 in the country by Wine Spectator Magazine, The Destin Charity Wine Auction weekend has been recognized in the “Top 10 U.S. Charity Wine Auctions” by the magazine for the last seven consecutive years. The Foundation’s largest annual event, the auction takes place over the last weekend in April each year. The event draws wine aficionados, gourmet chefs, and celebrity vintners from around the globe to enjoy world-class wines in the picture-perfect setting and white sand beaches of the Northwest Florida’s Emerald Coast. Funds raised benefit 16 local charities impacting the lives of children in need.
LIVE AUCTION REVENUE
SILENT AUCTION REVENUE
AA tradition Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation is particularly proud of is the “Paddle Raise.” The year Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation was created, Chan Cox, DCWAF founder, lost his 30 year old son, Clinton, to the devastating effects of addiction. A memorial fund was created to bring awareness and build a legacy for Clinton from the proceeds of a paddle raise at the live auction. Pathways For Change (PFC) is a faith based organization funded initially by Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Since 2005, PFC has served hundreds of men in intensive substance abuse treatment. Their mission of Changing Lives, Reducing Crime, Building Futures is actively preventing heartbreaking losses. Since 2007, DCWAF has raised over $1,000,000 so men and their families could be set free to live lives free from addiction.
PADDLE RAISE REVENUE
Magnum Force
The auction kicked off with the Magnum Force lot (50 autographed magnums from DCWAF vintners past and present), which raised $55,000.
Serenity at Sea Island
Raising $40,000 was a six-day trip to Sea Island for four couples donated by Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation Board Member, Bob Kirk. This incredible trip included accommodations in a private luxury home in The Cloister at Sea Island, dinner at the Forbes 5-Star Georgian Room, spa packages, and a scenic yacht cruise.
Argentinian Wine Expedition with Revana Wines
Raising $35,000 was a seven-night Argentinian wine experience donated by honorary vintner Dr. Revana for two couples. This incredible lot includes 4 nights at the Park Hyatt Luxury Collection Hotel, 3 nights at the Vines of Mendoza Resort & Spa in Uco Valley, a multitude of wine and private winery experiences, and access to the exclusive Corazon Del Sol Harvest Party.
Other Top Grossing Lots
An immersive trip to Montepulciano, Italy sold five times for $100,000 while a trip to Costa Rica sold five times for $85,000.

During the Wine Auction weekend, 11 Patron Dinners were held in notable restaurants and private homes in the area. These dinners pair celebrity chefs with participating vintners to create a memorable dining experience for every attendee. The Foundation is especially thankful to the Patron Hosts who opened the doors to their homes and restaurants and set the stage for the auction weekend. Auctions at each of these dinners recorded revenues of over $686,775, with a record-breaking $250,000 raised at the dinner dedicated to Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center hosted by Jack and Candis Wilson featuring Barnett Vineyards and Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery and Chef Matt Basford.
“It is our hosts who create the anticipation for the auction, it is our hosts that take such great care of our vintners and chefs, and it is our hosts who start us off with great auction revenue from their dinners. Each is an amazing contributor to the success of our mission and truly a force for good in our community,” marveled Russell.

Following the 2019 auction, DCWAF was fortunate enough to receive the largest single donation in the Foundation’s 15-year history. The $1 million gift, made by Ryan D. “Jume” Jumonville and his wife Raven, not only helped DCWAF meet it’s goal of distributing $3 million to its benefiting charities, but also goes a long way to ensuring the sustainability of the organization.
“This financial commitment by Mr. Jumonville will positively impact the lives of hundreds of children,” said John Russell, president of DCWAF. “We have never received a gift of this magnitude and we are so very grateful to be chosen as the recipient of such magnanimous support of our mission to help the children of Northwest Florida.”
A portion of his gift will be invested into the newly renamed Jumonville Family Children’s Fund to solidify the sustainability of the organization and the charities it supports into the future.
