BENEFICIARY Charities Of 2021

changing the lives of children

Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation donated $2 million to 16 Northwest Florida children’s charities on September 8 at the Henderson Beach Resort, marking a $691,000 increase in funds donated over the previous year. Celebrating its 16 year anniversary, DCWAF has now donated more than $25 million to non-profit organizations serving children in need in Northwest Florida.
“The fact that DCWAF has just celebrated 16 years of philanthropy is a testament to the values of so many people in our community. Our supporters and donors have shown their commitment to our mission from our very first auction in 2006. Because of their generosity, DCWAF has weathered the great recession, the Deep Water Horizon oil spill, and now the Covid pandemic. The $25 million raised and donated to our charity partners has had a profound impact on the lives of tens of thousands of children and their families. Our charity partners supply all the inspiration we need to continue our mission for years to come.” – John Russell, DCWAF President

Our Progress

DCWAF continues to successfully fundraise for our charity partners despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the Inception of DCWAF

DCWAF continues to be the leader in our region in non-profit fundraising and has donated over $25 million since inception. The challenges of 2020 and the COVID pandemic brought nearly all fundraising efforts on an international scale to a halt; a challenge that unfortunately continued into 2021. It forced the DCWAF team to rethink the format of the auction for a second year and produce a semi-virtual hybrid event. While overall fundraising wasn’t as high as it would be in a traditional year, DCWAF is proud to donate $2 million to our 16 benefiting charities. The total donated in 2021 is an $800,000 increase over 2020 fundraising efforts.

16th annual Destin Charity Wine Auction presented by the Jumonville Family

April 23-24 2021

Currently ranked #5 in the country by Wine Spectator Magazine, the Destin Charity Wine Auction Weekend has been recognized in the “Top U.S. Charity Wine Auctions” by the magazine for the last nine consecutive years. For the second year in a row, the auction was forced to adjust its format due to the pandemic. 2021 saw the return of patron dinners on Friday April 23 to their traditional format with planned watch parties at the Henderson Beach Resort and Churchill Oaks available for those who felt comfortable gathering in larger groups. By broadcasting the auction once again from the Hilton Sandestin, patrons were again given the option of attending the live auction in-person or experiencing the auction from home.

The virtual auction experience coupled with a live stream broadcast raised over $2 million for 16 local charities impacting the lives of children in need in Northwest Florida; an estimated $800,000 increase over the previous year.

Paddle Raise

A tradition Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation is particularly proud of is the “Paddle Raise.” The year Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation was created, Chan Cox, DCWAF founder, lost his 30 year old son, Clinton, to the devastating effects of addiction. A memorial fund was created to bring awareness and build a legacy for Clinton from the proceeds of a paddle raise at the live auction. This year, DCWAF broke from tradition and raised money for all 16 benefiting children’s charities rather than dedicating the paddle raise to one, specific charity. For the first time, the first $65,000 raised through the paddle raise was matched by Bill & Cheryl Stegbauer, Stephen & Joan Carter, and the Alys Beach Foundation.
