Galentine’s Fundraiser

February 3-4, 2023

In February, DCWAF hosted its second annual Galentine’s fundraiser designed specifically to help young girls in our community at the home of Candis Wilson. DCWAF charity partners were once again invited to submit a special grant request to fund either a new or existing project for young women in need. With a goal of $50,000 and seven charities requesting support, DCWAF board members Jeanne Dailey, Tiffany Edwards, and Lane Redding and trustee Candis Wilson came together to produce another impactful fundraiser. The weekend kicked off with a dinner hosted at Bijoux featuring the wines of Galentine’s keynote speaker, Lauren Ackerman of Ackerman Family Wines followed by the Galentine’s event the next afternoon. This women’s only fundraiser exclusively utilized female-owned businesses for event production. The sold out event raised an astounding $75,600.

Leadership of the Vision & Mission

A Look to the Future

look toward future

As we look forward to 2024, DCWAF is excited to announce that it’s adding Caring & Sharing of South Walton to its lineup of supported Northwest Florida children’s charities. Caring & Sharing of South Walton provides crisis relief to families in need within our local community through financial assistance, food, counseling, and case management. Founded in 1994, the organization serves close to 500 local families each month.

“Caring & Sharing of South Walton is so excited to be the newest member of the DCWAF Family!” Caring & Sharing of South Walton Executive Director Carly Barnes said. “We have been serving our neighbors in need for close to 30 years. This partnership will allow us to continue providing crisis relief to the 500 families we serve each month while also expanding our food and financial assistance programs to reach those who need it most in our community.”

With the addition of Caring & Sharing of South Walton, DCWAF supports 17 Northwest Florida charities, all of which help children in need by providing services for a variety of critical needs such as homelessness, food insecurity, mental health, and more.

“DCWAF is delighted to welcome Caring & Sharing of South Walton to our list of benefiting charity partners,” DCWAF President Karah Fridley-Young said. “We are honored that, through the support of our donors, they can expand their services to even more neighbors in critical need.”
