Texas-style Barbecue Meets Modern Italian Cuisine at this year's Harvest Wine & Food Festival
For the first time ever, long-time DCWAF supporter, Chef Craig Richards is teaming up with Harvest Wine & Food Festival veterans Jonathan and Justin Fox to bring their Atlanta-based culinary concepts together for a unique tasting experience at the beach. Our friends at Good Grit Magazine sat down to get to know the men behind the famous cuisine.
Q: How do you guys know each other?
A: Atlanta has a wonderful community of chefs and restaurants and we've gotten to know one another at events over the years. Craig has Texas roots like Jonathan and Justin and has always been a fan of their Texas-style barbecue.
Q: Will this be your first time working together?
A: This is our first official collaboration.
Q: What led to the collaboration?
A: Shared admiration! We thought the combination of barbecue and Italian would be a great collaboration for guests to experience. The menu at Lyla Lila features a lot of smoked elements, so it seemed like a natural fit to figure out a way to work together.
Q: What can guests expect at the event?
A: We'll be coursing out the menu so that guests have the opportunity to try a bit of everything. Here's what we will be cooking up.
- Burnt ends and provolone arancini
- Cacio e Pepe agnolotti, smoked beef cheeks
- Pit smoked porchetta, giardiniera
Q: What makes this collaboration so unique and special?
A: It's not often that we get to work with one another's product and create dishes together. Maybe this could be a restaurant concept one day!
Q: How does it feel to be a part of the Harvest Wine and Food Festival's signature event, The Grand Tasting?
A: It's great to be able to connect with guests during The Grand Tasting, especially after the past year and a half. It's a great celebration of wine and food while raising funds for the wonderful charities supported by DCWAF in Northwest Florida.
