Auteur Wines

Owner/Winemaker, Kenneth Juhasz has worked in the industry over the last sixteen years with meticulous and obstinate standards and has become well respected in the industry. Along with AUTEUR, Kenneth is the consulting winemaker for several wineries consistenly producing wines revered by critics, claiming California’s two Highest Rated Wine Spectator Pinot Noirs in 2008. Kenneth has a natural instinct in the vineyard and cellar and ability to curate each wine by first untangling each element, then turning around to challenge each threshold seperately in a very thoughtful, nondogmatic manner.

Background:

A palate desire for the finer things always tugged at Kenneth, even as a kid. Throughout college, he
worked in fine restaurants and managed a boutique wine shop and fell in love with Burgundy. Upon
graduation from the University of North Carolina, he and his twin brother backpacked through Europe
for some career soul searching. Upon return to the U.S., the quest persevered with Kenneth ultimately
following his nose to Oregon’s storied Willamette Valley. Passionate about Pinot, he worked with
veteran winemaker Ken Bernards during the harvests in 1998 and 1999.
In Portland, he bonded with his now-wife and business partner Laura, whose passion for wine and food
equaled his own. An offer from The Donum Estate in Sonoma drew Kenneth and Laura to Sonoma in
2002. The next year they realized their dream and started their own label, Auteur.
Along with AUTEUR, Kenneth is the consulting winemaker for several wineries consistently producing
wines revered by critics. Kenneth’s extensive winemaking experience includes esteemed and diverse
locales in Oregon, California, and the South Island of New Zealand. Kenneth has taken two of his clients
to the Top 100 Wine Spectator Wines, Donum Estate and Pali Wine Company. In 2010, two of his
Donum Estate Pinot Noirs outperformed prominent competitors receiving the highest rating for
California Pinot Noir from Wine Spectator. Other clients include, Gary Farrell, Dunstan, Semper, Robert
Stemmler and Attune. Auteur continues to been recognized as a top boutique producer with key wine
critics, Robert Parker and Wine Spectator.
