In 1992, former Indy Car driver Randy Lewis and his wife Debbie started a small winery in Napa Valley. In 1999, they were joined by Debbie’s son Dennis Bell and currently produce approximately 9,000 cases annually of highly rated and sought after wine. Their focus is   Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay with small lots of Syrah, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Lewis Cellars has always been hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, as well as sales and distribution. They thrive on this challenge and the relationships that they cultivate in the process. It is their continuing goal to create world-class wines that express the power, complexity, and polish of the grape varietals they work with.

Five years ago, David Gibson joined their team to curate and cultivate a winery tasting experience and act as personal liaison to their very supportive mailing list members.

A native of the Florida panhandle, David grew up in Fort Walton Beach area, a fourth generation descendant of local pioneer Silas Gibson. After graduating from the University of South Florida with a BA in Fine Art, David migrated further south to Miami. There he cut his teeth and honed his chops in the fine dining arena under James Beard award-winning chef Michael Schwartz at his original restaurant called Nemo.

“I feel like my relationship with Lewis began with my time at Nemo 20 years ago, where we created a wine program featuring many Lewis wines. I guess you could say that relationship has now come full circle,” David said.

Missing his family and roots in the Emerald Coast, he returned to the Destin area and spent the next five years managing local restaurants and their wine programs. By 2007 the call of California had become too strong to ignore and he moved to the Napa Valley. Prior to arriving at Lewis, David’s positions included management and director roles at the Michelin Star-rated restaurant Martini House, St. Helena steakhouse institution PRESS, and the iconic estate winery Quintessa.

“Being an integral part of a great team and proven brand is what I have sought since coming to the Napa Valley. While I’ve been fortunate to have enjoyed some great stops along the way, I feel like I have arrived in a special place with Lewis Cellars.”
